Passenger services have restarted at Scotland's primary international airport after a major air traffic control outage brought the international hub to a standstill.

Every arrival and departure were halted because of an technical fault that occurred at about 08:30.

A number of travelers found themselves stranded in aircraft on the tarmac during the disruption.

Operations Restart with Continued Disruption

The airport confirmed at 10:40 that services were back online, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "cooperation and patience".

That said, ongoing issues are likely to affect schedules. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been axed, with numerous other services subject to postponements.

A spokesperson had initially projected that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be disrupted.

"Passengers are advised to contact their airlines for the most up-to-date details on their individual travel plans," officials reiterated.

Source of the Issue

Officials linked the full ground stop to an IT issue with its air traffic control provider.

Travelers are still being urged to confirm the details of their trip before departing to the hub as knock-on effects are cleared.
