Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by telling students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

In response to these assertions, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his public life on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

The party, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

However, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also vowed to promote the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He said organizations like it were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”

The college, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
