Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his future after another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and secure a win of course but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I feel the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

Slot lamented familiar weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell such as this with performances like these.”

He stated, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to the top, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
