The British player made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slams this year.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions this season because of the illness she has been fighting for the last week and a half.

At 22 years old had planned to participate in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to recover before starting plans for the 2026 season.

These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

Her movement was far from freely in the deciding set in the match with Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has affected her during parts of the season.

These outcomes followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by Pegula in the third stage in the Beijing tournament last month.

She secured 28 matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route then falling in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open.

The original arrangement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.

The athlete revealed that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati in August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
