Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the duo.

Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director

Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt able to express about his personal sorrow.

"Adequate time has elapsed that I can now express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started spending more time together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."

The actor posted archival material from the movie, remarking that he doesn't recollect "any day without laughter".

"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes continued.

He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."

Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade

In a different essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.

"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.

Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.

"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.

Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed

Recently, a Los Angeles judge decided to block the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the local authorities.

A legal directive put a security hold on the investigation to restrict the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.

The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a record noting the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".

Response and Criticism

After the tragedy, public personalities shared varying comments.

Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing divisive statements that were widely condemned by many public figures.

Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the detractors recently. Speaking on his show, Rogan characterized the statements as "disturbing" and remarked they showed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.

Rogan ended by proposing that an aide could have intervened when the impulse to comment on the passing was made.
