🔗 Share this article UN:Me: A Cerebral Thriller Merging Survival Horror and Social Deduction Gameplay The latest Day of the Devs online presentation unveiled several fascinating upcoming titles, but one in particular has captured the imagination: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo adventure appears to blend the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill title with the paranoid deduction core of Among Us. "This is a distinctive game where a girl harboring multiple human souls inside her must escape from a labyrinth of the mind," explains developer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Shattered Consciousness In UN:Me, players assume the role of an unnamed heroine who appears to be of high school age. Within her exist four separate souls, all possessing unique fears and drives. These souls can take over at will, unleashing their deep-seated terrors upon her without warning. Judging by revealed gameplay, much of the action unfolds within a creepy hospital, while other scenes show the main character navigating a abandoned church. An Environment of Personal Dread "What makes you fearful of? What causes you uncomfortable?" poses creative lead Shun Sasaki. "High places. Confined spaces. People in power. Things that appear minor to other people can trigger something primal inside us. This game explores that idea — anxieties that are specific to every individual." The central mechanic revolves around managing whichever soul surfaces at a particular time. However, these identities will switch against your will as you play. While exploring, each soul's fears become exaggerated and assault the girl in succession. As the persona shifts, so does the particular terror the player experiences. Eerie Visuals and a Deadly Choice Initially, UN:Me displays striking visual similarities with the Silent Hill franchise. The setting is filled with orderlies all sporting the same face, with unnervingly wide grins. Figures in the lobby have large flowers where their necks should be. Floral motifs are an ever-present theme, juxtaposing organic elegance with unnatural horror. Yet, UN:Me presents a unique mechanic. Players must determine which of the four souls haunting the heroine is the "true" one. "All four personas claims that the physical form is rightfully them," notes a creator. "During the game, you need to figure out who is real." Once players have deduced a persona is fake, they are forced to destroy it. However, since every entity can lie or obfuscate the truth, it is incredibly simple to choose incorrectly. "Maybe you've already eliminated the true [soul] by your own actions," the narration states. "The last one standing could be a fake. In any case, your choices are final." UN:Me does not yet have a publicly announced release date, but it is can be wishlist on platforms.
